Off-site manufacture for construction: building for change
19/07/2018House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee SearchResearchItemsThis report argues that the combined effect of various problems means “the construction sector as it is currently constituted cannot efficiently meet the need for housing, and may struggle to meet the need for infrastructure”. These include better quality, increased productivity, improved safety and sustainability, and reduced disruption to communities. An example given is Witham station, where a “new booking hall structure was created within one week on-site, compared to the eight weeks required for traditional techniques.”
