Saudi Arabia Passenger train arrives

What was that about extreme conditions in the UK?! The first of five passenger trains for Saudi Arabia's North South Railway have been delivered by CAF as part of a 533m riyal contract signed in 2012. The trains are designed for 200kph operation in temperatures of up to 55 degrees centigrade. The push-pull diesel trains will operate over a 1418km route linking Riyadhwith Al-Qurayyat, near the Jordanian border. In addition to restaurant car, conventional seating, sleeping cars and a family zone, the nine and 13-car trains will also feature prayer compartments. - NH
