Railfreight needs “smaller, quicker innovations” than those such as ETCS that make up the ‘digital railway’, argues Rail Freight Group executive director Maggie Simpson. Those already being adopted include the replacement of paper reporting by electronic train loading and preparation information, and digital systems for the management of wagon defects.
