Jeremy Corbyn has been endorsed by ASLEF as their candidate for Labour leader. In the August 2015 Journal he says: "Labour lost the last election because we didn't put forward a vision that convinced and inspired.” He says that our economy is not productive enough. On the railways he talks of franchised companies hiking fares, cutting back and failing to invest. He claims the sole purpose is to maximise profit. He talks of technology advances in Asia, and suggests that we do not invest in this country. "We have no ambition or vision beyond short term profits.” Dissecting the failed Labour campaign bid, he adds that had the party listened to the unions and the public more than a clearer, more popular policy would have been put forward. - RC
