Connectivity key to Manchester

Manchester airport invests for long haul – A £1 billion revamp at Manchester airport (Britain’s biggest outside London) is being seen as an attempt to draw more passengers there rather than to Heathrow or Gatwick. Interestingly, the news article mentions that Manchester Airport is one of the proposed stops on HS2 and is likely to feature in an east-west high-speed route (an HS3). A clear recognition of the important of connectivity to other transport modes where investment is made in one area. - SB
