Compensation could be scrapped in Wales

Compensation could be scrapped in Wales

Transport for Wales Chief Executive James Price suggests that Schedule 4 and Schedule 8 payments made between operators and Network Rail could be scrapped in Wales as “the start of working more closely together”.

According to Price, both he and NR counterpart Andrew Haines regard them as “unnecessary performance regimes that get in the way of improving services for the customer”, although NR would not confirm the changes or if the move would be limited to Transport for Wales rail services.

As control of Welsh infrastructure is not devolved, any final decision will rest with Transport Secretary Chris Grayling
