Boris draws line at Churchill

“Plans to name Crossrail after Winston Churchill were dropped because Boris Johnson preferred to pay tribute to the Queen,” reports drivers’ union ASLEF.

The claim is said to have been made in a new book on Crossrail written by Christian Wolmar, who believes the former London Mayor opted for the Elizabeth Line instead of the Churchill Line, which was being advocated by the then-Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis.
