The first pre-series Intercity Express Programme train was unveiled by Hitachi at its Kasado factory in Japan today (November 13).
It is the first of three pre-series IEPs being built in Japan, and will be shipped to the UK early in the new year. All three will be here by June.
The trains are destined for the Great Western and East Coast Main Lines, and will replace High Speed Trains dating from 1976-1984.
