CAF meets firms in South Wales

Train builder CAF held a supplier’s day for local businesses in South Wales on January 30.

More than 80 firms attended the event, organised by the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing section of the Welsh Government. Attendees were told of the Spanish company’s plans, including the factory being built in Newport, and the bidding for Wales and Borders and South Wales Metro contracts.

CAF is organising one-to-one meetings with companies across the UK. The company said 13 were interested in ‘pitching’ for new-build and after-sales markets.

Richard Garner, CAF Business Development Director for the UK and Ireland, said: “This event underlines CAF’s commitment to establish a locally based supply chain to support its activities, not just for the new factory but also in the important after-sales market.”

Great news for Wales. Plus with new jobs created aswell. And with the production of new trains to be built in the future.
