Porterbrook takes stake in Brodie Engineering

Brodie Engineering Scotrail Class 170

Rolling stock financier and asset management company Porterbrook is taking a minority (49%) stake in Kilmarnock based company, Brodie Engineering.

Porterbrook says that the move 'underpins its ability to provide a full turnkey solution for its customers and fleets', and it can now better support its customers’ fleets in Scotland, and across the UK.

Brodie Engineering is a rolling stock engineering business which began operating in 1996, operating out of Bonnyton Works. It acquired its Caledonia Works site in 2020. The rail specialist centres around heavy maintenance, refurbishment and overhauls for passenger and freight vehicles.

Mary Grant, CEO of Porterbrook commented: “The expansion in recent years into the Caledonia Works underlines the ambition of Gerry Hilferty and his team. They’re doing a fantastic job and will continue to run the day-to-day operations of the company”.

Meanwhile, Porterbrook continues to upgrading facilities across the 135-acre Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre in Warwickshire. The company took over the site in 2021 from St. Modwen.
