Customer experience company Window Seater has teamed up with the Community Rail Network to provide geo-located, localised audio stories to connect rail passengers with the world outside their train window.
From February 17, the free at-seat guides were due to be available on nine lines in the Great Western Railway region, via apps available through the Apple and Google stores.
Window Seater’s intention is to support leisure travel on the railway through enhancing customer experience. The audio guides cover a variety of subjects, including history, geography, art and culture.
The initiative was funded by Innovate UK’s First of a Kind 2021 competition on behalf of the Department for Transport.

A great idea, a problem is our railways are avenues as trees are allowed to obscure the view
