Metro extension closer to opening

West Midlands Metro’s new extension to Edgbaston is now only a few weeks away from opening, following the installation of a substation in Birmingham city centre over the weekend of October 16-17.

The approach track to the new terminus at Hagley has been planted with grass (as is common in mainland Europe), the overhead wires are in place, and the final work is being carried out to tram stops ready for the start of trial running.
