Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris officially opened GB Railfreight’s new headquarters in Peterborough on August 11.
The £3 million building accommodates GBRf traincrew and office staff. It also houses the freight operator’s 24-hour control centre, training and operations departments, plus its asset management team.
This year alone, 120 people are expected to use the new training facilities, which include three classrooms and simulators. They will qualify and develop skills for roles including trainee drivers and apprenticeships.
GBRf says the building has been designed with sustainability and wellbeing at its heart, with the inclusion of solar panels, electric vehicle charging points and cycle racks as well as a catering hub and shower facilities.
