New Transport for the North Chief Executive Martin Tugwell has declared his commitment to ensuring that Prime Minister Boris Johnson sticks to his ‘levelling up’ promises.
Tugwell, who took up his new post on August 2, has a lot on his agenda - including the upcoming Spending Review, taking Northern Powerhouse Rail to the next business case stage, and publication of decarbonisation and freight strategies.
He joins TfN from England’s Economic Heartland, a transport body for the region that includes Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire. He has recently been President of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
