ECML dive-under track connected

The three-year engineering project to remove the East Coast Main Line bottleneck for slow-moving freight trains leaving and joining from the Doncaster/Lincoln ‘Joint Line’ should be completed later this year.

The biggest feature, the installation of an 11,000-tonne pre-cast box tunnel, was completed in January. The latest works have involved a minor realignment of the parallel former Midland Railway lines to Stamford, and resignalling.
