Movement for Growth, the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority’s transport strategy for the next 20 years, was approved by the ITA on December 17 following a three-month public consultation.
Movement for Growth will be the transport strategy for the forthcoming West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). A key aim will be to help the West Midlands unlock the full economic potential of High Speed 2, which will link Birmingham to London in 2026 and later to Manchester, Leeds and beyond.
The plan’s approval follows the announcement in November of a ten-year, £8 billion WMCA devolution deal that includes funding for several rail-related schemes (RAIL 789).
