A special charter for local passengers and stakeholders ran on December 11, to mark the start of upgraded west of England services from December 13.
Two new daily services will connect Bruton and Frome with London Waterloo, while half-hourly services will run from London to Tisbury, Gillingham, Templecombe, Sherborne and Yeovil Junction between 1520 and 1930.
Other improvements feature a doubling of the Sunday afternoon service between Salisbury and Waterloo, ten trains every weekday connecting Yeovil Junction and Yeovil Pen Mil, two trains per hour between Exeter and Honiton between 1600 and 1800, and two additional trains calling at Yeovil Junction, Sherborne and Templecombe in the afternoon.
