Network Rail engineers will be upgrading the West Coast Main Line at Weedon (near Northampton) over the Christmas period.
Engineering trains will be used to install a new drainage system underneath the track. This will help to improve service reliability in the area by reducing the need for speed restrictions in bad weather.
Work begins from 2000 on Christmas Eve, with the line scheduled to re-open at 1730 on December 29.
