Everything that is going on in the industry is changing the way the country thinks about rail, according to Rail Minister Claire Perry.
She told RAIL’s National Rail Conference that would lead to Britain becoming a world-leading railway nation once again, adding: “I think that it will lead us to a place that I am very keen to see us get to. We are participating in the rail renaissance. The next couple of decades will be the most important for rail in this country since the Victorian era.
“The Coalition Government was about articulating our vision for rail, and making the case for and winning investment against a pretty tough economic backdrop. But now we’re starting to deliver on that, and wherever you look across the railway you see growth and activity.”

Sounds like the Tory government is gearing up for National Rail privatisation - yet another disintegration of the railway sector.
