The National College for High Speed Rail has appointed John Evans as its chief executive. Evans joins the college from FirstGroup, where he was group human resources director.
In his new role, Evans will be responsible for the development of the college by shaping the curriculum and college design. He will also liaise with stakeholders including employers.
The college will have two sites in Doncaster and Birmingham. Construction is due to start on the latter in 2016, with the first students expected in September 2017. Its aim is to train a new generation of engineers to work on HS2 and other major projects.
