“Work on the Calder Valley line to increase capacity and provide the infrastructure to enable shorter journey times is currently in the final planning stages and will start on the ground in January 2016,” Transport Minister Andrew Jones said in a Commons Written Reply on October 15 to Holly Lynch (Labour, Halifax).
However, Network Rail and West Yorkshire Combined Authority confirmed to RAIL that the work is subject to the review of Network Rail’s projects being undertaken by Sir Peter Hendy, which is due to be published imminently.
