First refurbished Class 319 returns to Allerton

The first Class 319 electric multiple unit to move to Northern Rail following a full refurbishment (319364) was revealed at Allerton on February 11.

The four-car EMU has been refurbished by Knorr-Bremse Rail Services at Wolverton Works.

The work has included: new exterior livery; new interior paint to bring a brighter, fresher feel; refurbished or replaced grab handles; refurbished or replaced seat grab handles; improved public address systems and additional handsets in the middle vehicles; installation of public information system (PIS) screens; installation of controls for conductor door operation at all doors; improved seats and re-upholstering; and installation of disabled ramp housing.
