Both of DB Cargo UK’s royal-liveried Class 67s are due to be repainted, after the operator was awarded a new warrant to maintain and operate the Royal Train.

The pair, 67005 Queen’s Messenger and 67006 Royal Sovereign, are due to be repainted at Toton, with the former set to be renamed King’s Messenger.

Both ‘67s’ will also receive new Royal Cyphers.

DB Cargo UK’s Chief Executive, Andrea Rossi, said: “This is a tremendous honour for the company which comes with huge responsibility as we are trusted to safely carry senior members of the Royal Family across the UK rail network.

“There’s always a great sense of occasion when the Royal Train is seen out on the mainline network, a sight we hope to see more frequently in the years to come, particularly with His Majesty’s focus on promoting sustainability and the environment,” he added.

DB (and predecessor EWS) has held the royal warrant since privatisation.
