Firm chosen to handle overhaul of ScotRail Class 170s

Brodie Engineering Scotrail Class 170

Kilmarnock-based Brodie Engineering has secured a contract from Porterbrook to undertake C6 overhauls on the fleet of 17 Class 170 diesel

multiple units used by ScotRail. The contract is due to start in late October 2025 and includes the safety-critical overhaul of several components including

(but not limited to) brake controllers, batteries, saloon and cab air-conditioning, doors, plus a partial interior refresh and full exterior paint and re-livery.

    Won't be the first 170s handled by Brodies. These units should be used on Glasgow to Kilmanock, Dumfries , & Carlisle and route fettled for 100mph running to give an overdue upgrade to the route.
