For the first time, it is free to submit your nominations for the National Rail Awards. But you don’t have much time left to enter this year’s ‘Railway Oscars’.
Deadline for entries closes on Friday March 28, before NRA judges convene for an initial review on May 13.
Last year’s event received a record 381 entries. And a new category has also been created for 2025 - Accessibility Achievement of the Year.
Greater Anglia took home three awards last year (Passenger Operator, Fleet Achievement and Large Station of the Year).
GA’s Head of Corporate Affairs Jonathan Denby said: “In recent years, we have worked hard to transform services in our region with new trains and consistently high standards of performance. The added independent endorsement provided by these accolades offered further valuable recognition for the progress we have made.”
CarmichaelUK won Outstanding Contribution to Society in 2024. Commercial Manager Tom Carmichael described it as “both an honour and a privilege”, adding: “Winning this award is a fantastic achievement which belongs to all our team and confirms the hard work they do.”
Martin Weaver, from Capital Projects, which won Major Project of the Year for the transformation of Bank station, said the award was “justification for all of the hours, days, weeks and years so many people put into the project”.
And Emma Davis, Head of Customer Experience at East Midlands Railway, said winning the Customer Service Excellence Award was a “moment of immense pride” for her and EMR.
“To be acknowledged at the National Rail Awards reaffirms our commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue raising the bar for customer service at East Midlands Railway,” she said.
“This award is not just a celebration of what we’ve achieved, but a promise to keep delivering for our customers year after year.”
Judging takes place between May and July, with the shortlist revealed in mid-July.
The winners will be revealed at the National Rail Awards black-tie ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Wednesday September 17. Please note the switch from Thursday in previous years.
Entries and table bookings can be made at www.nationalrailawards.com. Table bookings will remain open throughout the summer.
