Battery shunter at Sellafield

Clayton Industries has delivered a new CD40 fully battery-powered shunting locomotive to Sellafield Ltd in Cumbria.

At 11 miles, the site has one of the largest internal rail networks in the country.

The new four-wheel locomotive has been supplied in addition to the two CBD80 hybrid locomotives already in use. Built in just four months, the new CB40 is set to improve the site’s rail operations and reduce its carbon footprint.
