West Yorkshire mayor visits Nottingham for City tram tour

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, met with Nottingham City Council on August 7 to learn more about how Nottingham has developed its award-winning tram network (NET).

NET has become a fundamental part of the city and is accessible to 30% of the Greater Nottingham area. Mayor Brabin has recently launched a public consultation on potentially two routes between Leeds and Bradford and used the opportunity to understand more on how Nottingham City Council operates its tram network.

Nottingham City Council Leader and Executive Member for Strategic Regeneration, Transport and Communications, Councillor Neghat Khan said: “Nottingham is a renowned leader in excellent public transport – a city where it’s easy to get around in a green and affordable way. It was a pleasure to host the Mayor of West Yorkshire, showcasing our exceptional tram network and offering support as they plan to develop their own tram system in the near future.”

Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin said: “We have ambitious plans in West Yorkshire to create a Mass Transit system which will improve connectivity and unlock economic growth.

“It was great to see Nottingham’s tram network and I thank colleagues at the council for inviting us and sharing their knowledge.”
