Stricken Class 66 ready to move

A month after its ran into issues at Blair Atholl, Direct Rail Services 66122 was still dumped in a siding at Dunkeld & Birnam.

As this issue of RAIL went to press, the locomotive was due to move to Motherwell.

A DRS spokesperson said: “The locomotive encountered a fault with its traction motor and was safely recovered to Dunkeld sidings.

“We’ve taken the necessary steps to enable 66122 to travel under its own power to our depot at Motherwell, where it will be given a full mechanical assessment.”
