Hercules back in ‘large logo’ BR Blue livery

Just over 40 years since it last ran in ‘large logo’ BR Blue, the Class 50 Alliance’s 50007 Hercules has been repainted in the popular 1980s livery, along with classmate 50049 Defiance.

They made their main line passenger debut on a Pathfinder Railtours three-day charter from Gloucester to Aberdeen on August 24-26, which saw Class 50s return to Inverness on what may be the first known working by the type via Elgin.

In this picture takne August 11, 50007 sparkles in the sun at its home at Kidderminster having just been refitted with a set of miniature snowploughs.
