Final Land Recovery ā€˜60sā€™ leave Toton

The final trio of Class 60s acquired by Land Recovery have been collected from Toton and taken to Radway Green for storage.

The last locomotives to move were 60036 on July 29, followed by 60077 two days later and finally 60037 on August 2. They join 60012/032/048/052/068/078/084/089/093 already in Cheshire.

The 12 Class 60s are all now sitting on track panels awaiting developments. However, while all are structurally complete, they were withdrawn between January 2006 and June 2011 and have been lain out in the open at Toton ever since. They were advertised for sale in January 2023, and a deal concluded in January of this year.

Their sale leaves DB Cargo with 47 Class 16s still for sale and five yet to be tendered.

So far just one of the 100-strong fleet has been scrapped (60006). GB Railfreight has 13, Cappagh has 19, one is preserved and two are owned by Steve Beniston.
