Train operator c2c has strengthened its commitment to accessibility by appointing Steve Scutt as its first Accessibility and Integrated Travel Manager. Scutt brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held similar positions at Chiltern Railways and Cross Country.
In his new role, Scutt will be responsible for driving improvements in accessibility across the c2c network, ensuring that stations, trains, and other assets are accessible to all passengers. He will also work closely with external stakeholders, including the Rail Delivery Group and the Department for Transport, to deliver a railway that meets the needs of everyone.
“I’m delighted to have Steve in this important new role,” said Amandeep Sogi, c2c’s Head of Customer Experience. “This appointment demonstrates our commitment to accessibility and our determination to create a railway where everyone has easy access to our services.”
Scutt will also oversee c2c’s Integrated Travel programme, working with other transport providers to improve connectivity for passengers. This includes exploring options such as better bus and cycle links, as well as enhancing accessibility for taxis.
“I’m really pleased to have joined a team already taking big steps forward,” said Scutt. “We’re looking forward to offering more seamless journeys for our customers who may have previously found it difficult to travel with us.”
c2c has ambitious plans to improve accessibility, including the introduction of British Sign Language screens, new navigation apps, and enhanced website tools.
