East Midlands Railway (EMR) has revealed the first conceptual images of the enhancements to its Class 360 trains as part of its £27.6 million refurbishment project. These trains serve EMR Connect and Luton Airport Express routes, connecting passengers between Corby and London St Pancras with stops in between.
The images show the planned upgrades aimed at enhancing the commuter experience with new features including a complete seating reconfiguration with a mix of airline-style and bay seats.
EMR believe the investment will particularly benefit travellers using the EMR Luton Airport Express, as the refurbed trains will be offering a quick and eco-friendly link to London Luton Airport.
"This £27.6 million refurbishment will be transformative," said Simon Pready, Commercial Director for East Midlands Railway. "We're committed to providing a sustainable travel option with increased comfort, improved facilities, and better luggage space, especially for those travelling to and from London Luton Airport."
Sambit Banerjee, Siemens Mobility Joint CEO UK & Ireland, whose company will deliver the upgrades, highlighted their commitment to enhancing both passenger environments and onboard technology. The project involves Siemens Mobility facilities in Northampton and Bedford.
