Blue Peter at King’s Cross after £5m overhaul

Blue Peter at King's Cross. TONY STREETER

Rededicated at King’s Cross by Jeremy Hosking, chairman of the owning Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust, the 1948-built 60532 then hauled a private charter to York - its first passenger-carrying train following a £5 million rebuild at Crewe. It last hauled a public train on what was then Railtrack in 2001.

Blue Peter is expected to be based at the West Somerset Railway this summer, to haul LSL-operated charters in the South West. It is also expected to feature in the BBC TV children’s programme with which it shares its name, and which has been following the locomotive’s overhaul.

The Doncaster-built locomotive was supported on its first train by LSL’s Class 57 57311.
