Needle acquires two Class 33s

Harry Needle Railroad Company has acquired two previously preserved Class 33s (33053 and 33208) from Ed Stevenson. The ‘33/0’ has already moved to HNRC’s Worksop site for storage.

33208, which as D6593 was one of the first preserved diesels to be main line-registered in the post-privatisation era, was hired by Valley Lines for six months in 1998 to work commuter trains on the Cardiff to Rhymney line.

However, it has not worked for over a decade and has been at the Battlefield Line for nine years pending overhaul.

The ‘33s’ are likely to be made available for spot hire or sale. Neither are main line-registered.
