HNRC to provide rolling stock and maintenance support to Swietelsky

Harry Needle Railroad Company has entered into a partnership with construction company Swietelsky (UK) to provide traction and maintenance support.

“An agreement of mutual benefit has been reached which will involve HNRC facilitating access to the Worksop Traincare facility for on-track machines and Kirow Rail Crane maintenance, supporting existing and future workloads,” said Swietelsky’s Dan Ryder.

“HNRC will provide access to a fleet of main line locomotives for which Swietelsky has identified a business requirement.

“HNRC offers a unique and innovative option for Swietelsky. Benefiting from recent investment, it boasts a centrally located heavy maintenance base with good access, where our OTMs can receive all levels of maintenance required to keep them in the very best condition, assuring continued high performance. HNRC also has available a vast fleet of main line locomotives which will help Swietelsky with our current business requirements.”

HNRC has a fleet of locomotives, including Classes 20, ‘25’, ‘27’, ‘33’, ‘37’ and ‘47’, although it is likely to be Class 20s and ‘37s’ that are used to support the Swietelsky operation. It has recently expanded its Class 37 fleet to 15 examples, many of which are either main line-compliant or close to being reactivated for use on Network Rail.

HNRC already supports Colas Rail, Locomotive Services Limited and Balfour Beatty in their rail operations, with either locomotive hire or maintenance.
