More than £7,000 was raised for the Railway Benefit Fund at the charity’s first Spring Ball fundraiser at the National Railway Museum.
Some 250 people enjoyed the evening’s entertainment, which included carnival booths, games, auctions and raffles, and a live band, all surrounded by the museum’s historic exhibits.
“Many people worked very hard to make our first Spring Ball a success,” said RBF Chief Executive Abi Smith.
The event was topped off by the presentation of a cheque for £20,000 from CrossCountry Director of Customer Services Jeremy Higgins. The donation came from proceeds from sales of his book, Great War Railwaymen.
